Art One Entertainment talent agency and the official staff account of Maon Kurosaki announced on Tuesday evening that the singer suddenly passed away on February 16 due to complications caused by a chronic illness. Her family held a private funeral for the singer and the agency and staff expressed their gratitude to all the fans that supported her.
In September 2021, Kurosaki collapsed during her live-streaming concert to celebrate her 11th anniversary as a singer. She then underwent emergency surgery for epidural hematoma, which Medscape defines it as a traumatic accumulation of blood between the inner table of the skull and the stripped-off dural membrane.
Maon Kurosaki was born in Tokyo on January 13, 1988, and was a singer affiliated with NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan. She made her debut album H.O.T.D. in September 2010, which consists of the ending theme songs used in the Highschool of the Dead anime. Later that year, she released her debut single “Magic∞World” which was used as the ending theme for A Certain Magical Index II. Since then, she has performed theme songs for the following anime series: Strike the Blood, Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School: Future Arc, School-Live!, Dances with the Dragons, Jormungand Perfect Order, Shakugan no Shana III (Final), Tokyo Ravens, Drifters, and the Grisaia franchise. Kurosaki’s last single “More Strongly” was the ending theme for Reincarnated as a Sword anime which premiered in October 2022.
Maon Kurosaki was good friends with the late Sayaka Kanda. After Kanda’s passing, Kurosaki registered a new name for an unnamed star in memory of her friend. They had a duet for the ending theme song of the anime series Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School: Future Arc. Both passed away at 35.
