The upcoming Netflix original anime Spriggan has unveiled a new key visual ahead of the July 18 premiere. The visual was drawn by Shuuei Handa, the series’ character designer and chief animation director.
Spriggan was originally set for 2021 premiere date, but was delayed to 2022. Hiroshi Kobayashi serves as the director, and Hiroshi Seko as the screenplay writer. The main cast is as follows:
- Chiaki Kobayashi as Yu Ominae
- Yohei Azakami as Jean Jacquemonde
- Ayumu Murase as MacDougal
- Mariya Ise as Yoshino Somei
- Kenji Hamada as Yamamoto
- Ken Narita as Koichi Moroha
The series is based on a manga written by Hiroshi Takashige and illustrated by Ryoji Minagawa. It started publishing in 1989, and had an animated movie adaptation was made by Studio 4°C in 1998. The trailer for the anime was released in March of this year and is slated to premiere on Netflix on July 18.
Netflix website describes the series’ plot as:
An ancient alien civilization’s relics on Earth hold dangerous powers. The ARCAM corporation’s Spriggan agents must keep them out of the wrong hands.
