The zombie idols are back at work! Kotaro is working harder than ever. According to him, there is a hard deadline for the project. Episode 10 is titled, “The SAGA of How These Zombies Will Get Their Revenge.”
“Zombieland Saga: Revenge” episode 10 starts with a flashback of the events before the second season. After the Arpino concert (the first season finale), the zombie idols and Kotaro decide to aim higher. However, we all know how the concert at Ekimae Fudosan Stadium ended: It’s a miserable flop!
They got a 20-million-yen debt and Kotaro becomes a depressed drunkard. Two weeks later, the zombie girls finally found encouragement that they will get their revenge someday.
We jump back to the present time. It has been a year since the failed concert. We first see Kotaro hilariously washed ashore with a pile of squid. His vest also gets stolen by birds. When Kotaro arrives at the strategy meeting mansion, he apologizes for his failures and announces their revenge concert at EFS.
Kotaro becomes so overly dramatic with his speech. He mentions that they will embark on a historical battle for Saga and that the seven of them will be the light amidst the darkness. Kotaro is confident that they can turn their failure into a success story.
A month later, the reporter Arata Okoba finally confronts Kotaro. He believes that Kotaro is making a profit out of the undead idols. Okoba promises to stop Kotaro’s scheme.
Suddenly, “Zombieland Saga: Revenge” episode 10 starts to drop plot bombs left and right. We discover that Jofuku met a gloomy Kotaro 12 years ago. Kotaro also discovers then that “Gramps” is immortal, can revive the dead, and most especially — is fighting a curse that haunts the land of Saga.
Kotaro has been working hard to prevent the prophecy of Saga’s disappearance. “Zombieland Saga: Revenge” episode 10 ends on quite the cliffhanger. A typhoon causes a citywide black out in Saga. The reporter is unable to finish his article. Suddenly, Gramps feels pain in his chest and the abandoned mansion is… sinking!?
Kotaro is the MVP!
What a mind-blowing episode!!! We discover a lot of things in “Zombieland Saga: Revenge” episode 10, and it’s a lot of information to take in. MAPPA just gave us a full episode about the plot. Honestly, I’m an emotional blob of excitement right now.
A madman manager, a mudskipper, and now, a squid man! Kotaro (and of course Mamoru Miyano) never ceases to amaze me. In addition, the speech he made was so epic and powerful. It was really nice of Kotaro to (sort of) call everyone legendary. I also loved Tae’s awesome make-up! That part definitely lifted everyone’s spirits, including me.
But beyond all the shenanigans this series delivers, the continuity of the main plot is amazing. Honestly, I had goosebumps when it all came together.
The conversation between Kotaro and Jofuku is definitely the highlight of “Zombieland Saga: Revenge” episode 10. The mood of the episode was so serious. First, Jofuku is indeed the immortal “Saga” Gramps. Second, there is a prophecy that Saga is cursed to be forgotten.
Third, we also discover that the same curse killed the girls. Lastly, Kotaro resurrected them as zombie idols to make Saga unforgettable. The story and lore-building is remarkable!
This episode is Legendary
It turns out that there is really a deeper reason to save Saga. My mind is blown with all these reveals! It’s just sad to think that the girls died because they would have brought fame to Saga. In a way, it is genius of Kotaro to revive them as idols because they can’t die twice from the curse! The episode is so eventful that the cliffhanger was very frustrating. Did the mansion really sink? Did the curse stop the article because it would bring attention to Saga? I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing though. Either way, Jofuku is in pain and that means something bad!
Personally, “Zombieland Saga: Revenge” is what gets me through the week. I’m really happy with how season two has been so far. Not to sound emotional about it, but I feel much love for Saga. It’s like I’m part of the journey together with Franchouchou, Kotaro, Jofuku, and the real-life Saga.
Story aside, I think it’s amazing that this anime is bringing Saga worldwide recognition and appreciation. I’d really want to visit the place someday! With only two episodes left, I’m definitely excited for how the story will unfold. Whatever happens, I’m sure it will be legendary.
Speaking of legendary, have you seen the real-life performance of Franchouchou? It’s performed by the voice actors! Check out the newly released teaser of the “Live of Dead ‘R'” concert:
