AnimeJapan 2024 Recap: Announcements and Highlights

AnimeJapan 2024 is here and despite numerous announcements in the days leading up to the event, anime fans all over the world can’t complain about what this year’s event had to offer. This article will serve as a recap and a way to highlight all of the information we got about our favorite shows! So without any further ado, let’s begin. Keep in mind that every anime on this list with a link in the title has a separate article with more information.

Manga We Want to See Animated Ranking 2024

First up, Manga We Want to See Animated Ranking 2024 revealed the top 10 titles over 100,000 fans chose with their votes. Here are the winners:

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation

Rudy is returning this April with the second cour of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 and what better way to mark the occasion than with a new trailer?

Grimm Variations

Grimm Fairytales original project by WIT Studio, Netflix, and CLAMP revealed a trailer and visual. Each episode will have a different anime director, and the full list can be found on the link above.

Beastars

Netflix was on a roll with its AnimeJapan 2024 announcements: just yesterday new BEASTARS key visual was revealed, while today they dropped the first trailer. The final season of the popular anime adaptation will be split into two parts, with the first one streaming on Netflix in 2024.

Baki Hanma x Kengan Ashura

Fans of Baki Hanma and Kengan Ashura also have something to look forward to: a new anime collaboration between the two titles. The anime movie revealed an exclusive visual ahead of the June 6 premiere on Netflix:

Delico’s Nursery

The previously announced anime project revealed a trailer and a July 2024 premiere date. Rina Hidaka and Chika Anzai are among the cast additions which are featured in the trailer:

The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse

The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse is officially continuing with a second season. The anime is streaming on Netflix worldwide.

Dungeon People

Dungeon People revealed a trailer ahead of its July premiere. OLM is animating the adaptation.

The Duke of Death and His Maid

The story of cursed duke and his maid will be completed this year – the third and final season premieres this April. Check out the new trailer:

Demon Lord 2099 adaptation will premiere this fall. Check out the trailer:

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian (Roshidere) will premiere this July, as announced earlier with a new trailer. The upcoming anime will have a special stage on Day 2 of AnimeJapan 2024 but it revealed the trailer on Friday.

Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World

The long anticipated second season of Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World didn’t have a dedicated stage at today’s AnimeJapan2024 but it was a part of Kadokawa’s program. The anime premieres this July and you can now watch the ending sequence which features a theme song by Sizuk:

Love Live

Love Live! Nijigasaki fans were treated to an update about the upcoming movie trilogy which will see the girls going to Okinawa, as well as an update about the second season of Nijiyon. Find out more on the link in the subtitle.

Natsume’s Book of Friends

Natsume’s Book of Friends is returning this fall, to the joy of many fans. The series revealed the first teaser visual and trailer on Day 1 of AnimeJapan 2024.

Make a Girl

Make a Girl movie is welcoming Sora Amamiya and Toshiki Masuda to the cast. The movie is produced by Kadokawa.

Gods’ Games We Play

Gods’ Games We Play revealed a new trailer during Kadokawa’s segment at AnimeJapan 2024. The anime premieres on April 1.

Turkey

Pony Canyon’s upcoming anime original movie Turkey revealed a trailer at AnimeJapan 2024. The movie, which premieres next year, will focus on bowling.

Blue Box

The upcoming Blue Box anime added new cast members to its lineup. The anime premieres this October and you can check out the new teaser trailer below:

Sound! Euphonium

Sound! Euphonium revealed a new trailer for the third season – just in time for the April 7 premiere date. Studio KyoAni is animating, once again.

Blue Archive

The upcoming Blue Archive anime also revealed a trailer. The anime premieres on April 7.

BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War

BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War revealed a special music video featuring “Reaper” by SennaRin. We’ll have to wait a bit longer for more information on the anime that is continuing this year.

Spice and Wolf

Spice and Wolf reboot anime revealed a new key visual. Studio Passione’s adaptation will air for two consecutive cours.

Tales of Wedding Rings

Tales of Wedding Rings is getting a second season, as announced earlier. The cast will be appearing on a stage during Day 2 of AnimeJapan 2024.

Oblivion Battery

Oblivion Battery has a new key visual earlier today. MAPPA is animating.

Oshi no Ko

Oshi no Ko Season 2 is coming this July, as announced during Day 2 of AnimeJapan 2024. The highly-anticipated sequl also revealed a key visual and trailer.

Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World Season 3

Re:Zero -Starting Life in Another World- Season 3 premieres this October, as announced with a new trailer. Studio WHITE FOX is returning to animate.

The Dangers in My Heart

The Dangers in My Heart panel was dedicated to the upcoming finale of the second season. The anime is teasing an emotional conclusion and you can check out the preview images on the link above.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End

The first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime ended earlier this week, but that didn’t stop the cast from having a great time during the AnimeJapan 2024 stage.

365 Days to the Wedding

The previously announced 365 Days to the Wedding anime revealed a teaser trailer and visual at this year’s Pony Canyon AJ stage. Kentaro Kumagayi and Saori Hayami are voicing the main duo.

Days With My Stepsister

Days With My Stepsister anime also had an update: a new trailer and visual. Studio DEEN is animating the adaptation which is slated to premiere this July.

Blue Exorcist

After years of waiting, Blue Exorcist fans finally got the highly anticipated sequel this year. The anime taking a small break, but will continue in October with the Beyond the Snow arc.

Black Butler

Black Butler fans were in a similar situation as Blue Exorcist‘s – it’s been over five years since the last update in the anime franchise. Ciel and Sebastian are returning on April 13. Otoha and Sid are performing the theme songs, which are featured in the new trailer:

The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3

The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3 is starting with the Double Seven arc, as announced during AnimeJapan 2024 with a new trailer and visual. The season premieres on April 5.

Senpai Is an Otokonoko

The trailer for the upcoming anime adaptation of Senpai Is an Otokonoko was unveiled during AnimeJapan 2024. The anime premieres in July.

The Elusive Samurai

Meet Hojo in the first trailer for The Elusive Samurai anime, which premieres in July.

Plus-Sized Elf

The adventures of the adorably chubby Elufa begin this July! A new visual was revealed during AnimeJapan.

Koi wa Futago de Warikirenai (Love Between Twins Is Indivisible)

Another contender for the “it’s not what it sounds like” title revealed a new visual. Studio Roll2 is animating the series which will be produced by Kadokawa.

Monogatari

The previously announced anime adaptation of Off Season and Monster Season from the Monogatari series revealed a new trailer at this year’s AnimeJapan. The anime premieres this year.

My Hero Academia

The long-anticipated new trailer for My Hero Academia Season 7 is here. Although season doesn’t begin until May, fans will be able to enjoy the four-episode recap titled My Hero Academia: Memories which begins on April 6.

A Nobody’s Way Up to an Exploration

Azumi Waki and Mayu Sagara are joining the cast of A Nobody’s Way Up to an Exploration anime as Haruka Katsuragi and Luceria, as announced this weekend with a new trailer for the anime.

Party kara Tsuiho Sareta Sono Chiyushi, Jitsu wa Saikyo ni Tsuki

The Party kara Tsuiho Sareta Sono Chiyushi, Jitsu wa Saikyo ni Tsuki (The Healer Who Was Banished From His Party Is Actually the Strongest) revealed a teaser trailer, announcing October 2024 premiere date.

Bocchi the Rock

Bocchi the Rock is returning with two compilation movies and fans were able to enjoy a new trailer for the first part.

Fureru

The previously announced Fureru movie revealed character designs and a basic outline of the plot. The plot follows three men who move to Tokyo and find a strange creature. The trio’s names are Ryo Sobue, Aki Onoda, and Yuta Inohara.

Mayonaka Punch

The upcoming Mayonaka Punch original movie by studio P.A. Works revealed a new trailer, which features the main cast:

• Fairouz Ai as Live
• Ikumi Hasegawa as Masaki
• Ai Kayano as Yuki
• Hitomi Ueda as Tokage
• Hina Yomiya as Fuu
• Yuina Ito as Ichiko

Sasaki and Peeps

Sasaki and Peeps are peeping into the new season. The sequel was announced with a video featuring the current opening song “FLY” by MADKID:

ATRI: My Dear Moments

ATRI: My Dear Moments by studio TROYCA revealed the first trailer. Anime premieres this summer.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin introduced the main characters. The cast includes:

• Kokorowa (voiced by Rika Kinugawa)
• Tauemon (voiced by Ryota Yano)

Laid-Back Camp

The Laid-Back Camp franchise is getting a puzzle game, titled Yurukyan△ ~Puzzle Camp~, and it is slated for a 2024 release.

Pokemon Horizons: The Series

The newest Pokemon anime series revealed some new cast additions at this year’s AnimeJapan. They are:

• Mitsuki Saiga as Rika
• Miria Takagishi as Poppy
• Kosuke Toriumi as Larry
• Ryotaro Okiayu as Hassel

Undead Unluck

Undead Unluck had a whole panel for itself, but in the end, the fans didn’t get the much-anticipated sequel announcement. Instead, we should brace ourselves for August 1 when the franchise is holding an event where something big will be revealed.
