The San Francisco Giants have announced their first-ever Anime Day. On September 28, fans can grab the exclusive Naruto Shippuden-themed baseball jersey during the game against the St. Louis Cardinals in celebration of our favorite medium and the iconic series.

The San Francisco Giants aren’t the first MLB team to announce an Anime Day this season. The Seattle Mariners hosted the first Anime Night at the beginning of the season on April 1, and then the Miami Marlins followed suit with their Anime Day on June 22. The Boston Red Sox also held a special Luffy bobblehead giveaway to celebrate the series’ 25th Anniversary.
A special Hololive Night event was held by the Los Angeles Dodgers back on July 5, featuring famous Vtuber Gawr Gura, who even showed up on the scoreboard during the game. The event even ended the night with a wild drone show. Fans who attended the game also received exclusive Hololive baseball cards to celebrate the occasion.
The manga series Naruto written and illustrated by Kishimoto was serialized from 1999-2014 in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The series ran for a total of 72 volumes and currently has a total of 250 million copies in circulation, making it the 6th most successful manga of all time. VIZ Media acquired the English license in 2003 and has since published all the volumes, including 3 separate box sets completing the series.
The Naruto anime series began airing in 2002 with Studio Pierrot in charge of animation production. The series ran for a total of 220 episodes until it ended in February 2007. Naruto: Shippuden began a couple of weeks later, which ended up running for another 21 seasons (500 episodes) and ended in March 2017.
VIZ Media licenses the manga in English and describes the plot as:
Twelve years ago the Village Hidden in the Leaves was attacked by a fearsome threat. A nine-tailed fox spirit claimed the life of the village leader, the Hokage, and many others. Today, the village is at peace and a troublemaking kid named Naruto is struggling to graduate from Ninja Academy. His goal may be to become the next Hokage, but his true destiny will be much more complicated. The adventure begins now!
