SANDA is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Paru Itagaki. It was serialized in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion magazine for 3 years from July 2021 to July 2024, with 14 volumes released as of June 2024. The anime was announced on the day of the manga’s ending.
Described as a “Santa Claus action story,” the story is set in a future Japan, where the birth rate is declining and children have a higher social status than adults. Santa Claus has been sealed because of a curse, with Christmas left as a legend. The main character, Sanda Kazushige, realizes he has a connection to the mythical Santa.
Paru Itagaki’s BEASTARS manga started serialization in 2016 in Weekly Shonen Champion and ended in 2020 after 196 chapters. The final season of its anime adaptation released Part 1 this December, with Part 2 coming at a later date.
Science SARU is also animating DAN DA DAN, which will have Season 2 premiere in July 2025.
