Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2 has revealed the preview images and synopsis for Episode 4 (Episode 16 overall). Crunchyroll is streaming the anime worldwide, with Episode 4 scheduled to premiere on May 3. Studios Actas and Bandai Namco Pictures animated the first season of Wistoria: Wand and Sword, with Tatsuya Yoshihara as the director. Yoshihara returned for the sequel as Chief Director, with Hideaki Nakano as director.

Guided by Finn, Will awakens the power slumbering within him. Enveloped in a silvery light, he slashes through the monsters in the capital. His target is the notorious monster, the Devander. With sword in hand, he faces the mage-slayer-wielding monster alone. The other students are moved as they watch Will, someone they scorned as no-talent, do battle. With their cheers at his back, Will presses the fight, but the Devander’s fierce attack breaks Will’s sword in two.

The anime is based on the manga written by Fujino Omori (also the author of Danmachi) and illustrated by Toshi Aoi. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine since December 9, 2020, with 15 published volumes so far. It surpassed 3 million copies in February 2026. Kodansha USA licensed it in English, while Crunchyroll is streaming the anime adaptation.
The story follows the ‘talent-less’ Will Serfort, a mage without magic attending a magic academy with the hope of becoming a Magia Vander, one of the world’s top mages. He needs to accomplish that to reunite with his prodigious childhood friend, Elfaria, and he has to face severe lack of respect from most of his fellow classmates. However, he is determined and slowly wins people over, showing that hard work and perseverance can get him far.
