Arcane is an animated television series set in the the popular MOBA game League of Legends universe. It was first announced at the League of Legends 10th Anniversary celebration, and is being developed and produced by Riot with animation by Fortiche Productions. The first season was expected to release in 2020, but it was delayed due to the virus outbreak. Now, Netflix has released a trailer for the League of Legends animated series Arcane, as well as a Fall 2021 release date.
You can watch it on the official Twitter:
Set in the past, it retells the origin stories of several characters from Piltover and Zaun. Namely, we’ll be seeing Vi and Jinx, as well as Warwick and Caitlyn in supporting roles. The cast is yet to be revealed, as well as any other details.
As far as the studio in charge of Arcane, besides the trailer, they’ve also done cinematics for League of Legends before. For example, they did GET JINXED (Jinx), POP/STARS (Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, Kai’Sa). They also did RISE for Worlds 2018 and WARRIORS for Worlds 2014.
The first trailer for Arcane doesn’t show that much, but League of Legends has a huge fanbase and a lot of fans loved their previous cinematics. It will be interesting to watch an animated series, and Fall 2021 is pretty close! Additionally, it’s worth noting that it will be rated 14+ and might have some more ‘adult’ themes.
