The upcoming anime adaptation of Shozen has released its first full trailer, confirming an April 2027 release date. The series is based on Jiang Jia Meizi’s fantasy manhua, which is serialized on Bilibili Manga.
The new trailer introduces the main cast, including:
- Rina Kawaguchi as Shozen
- Hiroshi Kamiya as Taoist Master Dozen
- Daisuke Sakuma as Ryojin
- Aoi Yuki as Kensei
- Ayumu Murase as Chiro

Shozen follows the wandering Taoist Dozen, who encounters a human girl raised by yokai. Naming her Shozen, he takes her on as his disciple, starting a journey as she gradually learns human emotions and compassion. The official synopsis:
One day, Dozen, a Taoist priest who travels from place to place, encounters a young girl being raised by yokai. Knowing neither human emotion nor affection, she is given the name “Shozen” by Dozen, who takes her on as his disciple and allows her to join him on his journey. What is good? What is evil? Thus begins Shozen’s journey of training and growth as she learns what it means to be human.
Itsuro Kawasaki (Arc the Lad, The Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting) is in charge of the direction and script, with Dangun Pictures and Cannon Code co-producing the animation. Eri Osada is in charge of the character designs, with Taku Iga is composing the music.
Along with the trailer, it was also announced that the original manga has begun publishing in Japanese on the digital platform RyaCom.
