Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun Manga Resumes Serialization After 10-Month Hiatus

Written by Marko Jovanovic

The Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun manga will resume serialization on August 18 with the September 2026 issue of Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy, ending a hiatus of approximately 10 months.

The manga had been on hiatus since the issue released in November 2025 due to creator AidaIro’s health and medical treatment. During the break, GFantasy republished previous chapters.

AidaIro confirmed the return on X ahead of the new issue’s release, writing that Hanako-kun is resuming serialization and asking readers for their continued support.

The manga has surpassed 10 million copies in circulation across the series. It also received a TV anime adaptation, with its first season airing in 2020 and its second season beginning in 2025. The After-School Hanako-kun spin-off manga by the same creators began in 2018 and also received an anime adaptation. Yen Press is publishing both in English.

Crunchyroll is streaming both Toilet-bound Hanako-kun and the After-School Hanako-kun short anime, describing the story for the former:
Kamome Academy is rumored to have many mysteries, the strangest of which involves the mischievous ghost of Hanako-kun. When occult-loving high schooler Nene Yashiro accidentally becomes bonded to him, she uncovers a hidden world of supernatural beings. Now the two of them are conspiring to keep the peace between student and supernatural—that is, if they can only stay out of trouble themselves.
