The previously announced Matsurika Kanriden anime released a new trailer featuring the opening thems song “Hana Hanashi” by Kana Boon. The anime is slated to broadcast in January 2027 with Maho Film in charge of the animation.
Rie Takahashi stars as Matsurika Ko and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Emperor Hakuyo. Three new voice cast members were also revealed:
- Takeo Otsuka as Tenga Rei
- Kotaro Nishiyama as Shisei Ho
- Sho Komura as Shunsetsu Sho
Takeshi Mori is the chief director while Yuichi Nakazawa is the director. Toko Machida is handling the series composition, Manami Inose is on character designs, and Takuro Iga is composing the music.
The story follows the titular character, Matsurika, a lady-in-waiting at the imperial palace known for her excellent memory. One day, she meets the emperor, who falls in love with her, but tells her to approach him only after passing an exam.
The light novel series is written by Rinne Ishida and has been published under Kadokawa’s B’s-LOG Bunko label since July 2017. There is also a manga adaptation by Waka Takase, which has been serialized in Akita Shoten’s shojo manga magazine Princess since August 2018.
