The Summer 2022 anime season is already well underway, and Lycoris Recoil took everyone by surprise with its impressive premiere and took the crown in week 1. With votes from 8110 people, the anime ranked above 2 other non-sequels: Uncle From Another World and Vermeil in Gold. Lycoris Recoil is an original anime by studio A-1 Pictures, and the story follows cute girls who secretly keep the city of Japan safe. How do they do it? Well, they work in a secret organization that hardly has mercy on anyone committing crimes. We already saw the brutality of it all in the first episode, as well as one of the main characters (Chisato) and her own style of doing things as the top-tier Lycoris. The official synopsis for the story:
“LycoReco” is a café with a traditional Japanese twist located in downtown Tokyo. But the delicious coffee and sugary sweets are not the only orders this café takes! From delivering packages to short distances, to pick-ups and drop-offs on the lonely streets at night, to zombies and giant monster extermination…?! Whatever your problem, we’re here to help! We will solve any kind of “trouble” you may have!
Waiting for you are the ever-smiling poster girl and the cool, serious newcomer. A petite girl who never wants to work and a young woman approaching thirty who wants to get married. And the manager is a nice guy who’s obsessed with Japan! Whatever your order is, leave it all up to us!
Not all the Summer 2022 anime shows have premiered yet and week 1 is still early to tell, but Lycoris Recoil certainly has the potential to be one of the best this season!
