My Hero Academia: You’re Next movie will include an anime adaptation of the A PIECE OF CAKE original manga story as a bonus for its Blu-ray and DVD edition. The release is scheduled in Japan for February 19, 2025. The story was written by the manga’s creator Kohei Horikoshi, and it was originally distributed to attendees as a bonus gift during the theatrical release of the movie.
The story focuses on the daily life of Deku, Katsuki Bakugo, and other members of Class 1-A, taking place just before the events of the movie. You can see the preview images below.
A PIECE OF CAKE, will be included as a bonus for the deluxe “Plus Ultra Edition” of the Blu-ray & DVD release of Your Next. Studio BONES improved several scenes for the release, which will also offer a standard edition featuring only the main disc. In addition to the original anime, the deluxe edition will include other exclusive bonuses, such as a 44-page booklet with new interviews and concept art, illustrations by Kohei Horikoshi, a special postcard, and more.
The movie premiered in Japan on August 2, and its box office has exceeded 23.8 billion yen ($164 million) as of August 18. It had the biggest opening for the franchise.
Kohei Horikoshi drew the My Hero Academia manga for Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from July 2014 until August of this year. The series ended after a 10-year run, getting numerous illustrations and messages for the conclusion.
The manga received its first anime adaptation by studio BONES in 2016. It received 6 more seasons in the following years, with Season 7 concluding on October 12, 2024. You can read our review of the finale, as well as one of the entire season.
My Hero Academia Season 8 was officially announced immediately after the last episode, and it was confirmed to be the final one. The story left off right as the fights between All For One/One For All and Deku/Shigaraki got to their climaxes, and fans are looking forward to the continuation coming in 2025.
