The intro for One Piece: Odyssey goes:
This is a story of memories Spun from fate’s loom, The Legend of Waford.
Ages ago, a most mysterious landmass first appeared in these waters. The island came to be known as Waford, a cursed place surrounded by maelstroms, drawing many a foolhardy sailor to wreck upon its shores.
One day I met one such sailor… A brave pirate who told me he had been to Waford and returned! What’s more, he claimed he had seen a mysterious girl and a terrifying giant living there! But alas… he was pursued by the Navy and arrested before I could learn more.
Still, these tales captured the imaginations of many scholars who struck out to see the wonders of Waford. Sadly, none would ever return from their fateful expeditions.
The produced of One Piece: Odyssey Tsuzuki also shared the reason for the rescheduling. They also show the artwork by Eiichiro Oda and talk more about the new characters in the producer message video:
Part of his message:
Our original plan was to release this game in 2022. However, we feel that this is our chance to deliver the best ONE PIECE game to the world. In order for everyone to be able to play ONE PIECE ODYSSEY at its best, we decided to take more time in the production and brush up the quality of the game. As a result, I beleive that we have improved the level of polish that we wanted to achieve with this work so that everyone can enjoy the concept all the way through to the ending.
