In April 2018, Seiji Mizushima, the director for the Mobile Suit Gundam 00. Has announced at the “Gundam 00 Festival 10 Re: vision” event. That the anime is getting a new project. But It is not yet clear whether the sequel will be a new series, film, OVA, or something else entirely.
2 Years later, Seiji is back with good news. At the Gundam Cafe Tokyo Event on November 15, he announced that the previously announced project is still happening. But due to COVID-19 delays, it probably won’t be out for more than seven years. Yes, you read that right, seven years from now. That’s 2027!
It has already been 13 years since the release of the first season of Mobile Suit Gundam 00, and in 2027 it would celebrate its 20th anniversary by releasing a new project for the anime! The next upcoming years will be fun for Gundam/Mecha fans! With the announcement of Yoshiyuki Tomino developing 3 new projects for the franchise. And the release of the 5 part compilation film for Gundam Reconguista in G films and the upcoming Mobile Suits Gundam: Hathaway. Sunrise and Gundam are jam-packed for the upcoming years.
After the special event at the Gundam Cafe, it was still not announced what will be the new project for the anime. But it was said that the new project will take place right after the 1st movie, which was released in 2010.
