The Sumikko Gurashi movie titled Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: Tsugihagi Kojo no Fushigi na Ko (Sumikko Gurashi the Movie: The Mysterious Child of the Patchwork Factory) collaborates with the 2023 film Wonka in the new visual. Wonka is based on the well-known character from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Willy Wonka, while Sumikko Gurashi is a group of adorable characters created by San-X. The Sumikkos, the major characters in the movie, are known for living their lives in a quiet and peaceful corner of a room where they feel most comfortable. A new character named Kuma will be introduced who is a factory manager, and will eventually teach the Sumikkos how to make toys.
This collaboration with Wonka became possible because of their similar plot settings, both of which feature mysterious factories and mysterious, yet charming managers. Wonka will be released this year, on December 8, and will focus on the life of young Willy Wonka before he became an inventor, magician, and the owner of the famous chocolate factory. In the visual, both Wonka and Kuma have the same pose and each is holding an item that will be seen in their respective movies. See the visual below:
