The SAKAMOTO DAYS TV anime adaptation has been officially announced, and the very recognizable voice actor Tomokazu Sugita has been cast as the titular protagonist [Taro] Sakamoto.
The voice actor has had many notable roles, some of which are Gintoki Sakata in Gintama, Escanor in The Seven Deadly Sins, Joseph Joestar in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Katakuri in ONE PIECE and the adult version of Rudeus Greyrat in Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation. The anime adaptation announcement came with the reveal of the first key visual, trailer and staff, and you can briefly hear Tomokazu Sugita in the trailer below.
SAKAMOTO DAYS is a Japanese manga by Yuto Suzuki. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since 2020. It is one of the most popular “new-gen” titles, and there are currently 166 chapters out (16 volumes). VIZ Media licensed the manga in English, and they describe the story:
Taro Sakamoto was once a legendary hitman considered the greatest of all time. Bad guys feared him! Assassins revered him! But then one day he quit, got married, and had a baby. He’s now living the quiet life as the owner of a neighborhood store, but how long can Sakamoto enjoy his days of retirement before his past catches up to him?!
