Ghost of Yotei (Ghost of Yōtei) game has been announced for 2025, coming as sort of a spiritual sequel to the popular Ghost of Tsushima. They love origin stories at Sucker Punch, so that’s why they decided to explore what it could mean to uncover the legend of a new hero with a Ghost mask.
The story is set in 1603, over 300 years after the events of the first game. It gets its name from the game’s location, Mount Yotei, which Sucker Punch describes as a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, an area of Japan known as Hokkaido in present day.
The game will feature a female protagonist called Atsu, and you can watch the game’s announcement trailer below.
This will be Sucker Punch’s first game built from start for the PS5, and they are excited about making the world feel even more real than in Tsushima by building upon its foundation. They further describe it:
“We have massive sightlines that let you look far across the environment, whole new skies featuring twinkling stars and auroras, even more believable movement from wind on grass and vegetation, and more improvements we’ll share in the future. Our new setting also gives us the opportunity to introduce new mechanics, gameplay improvements, and even new weapons.”
