The first minute of the upcoming anime series The Beginning After The End (TBATE) was revealed in a new IGN interview with the series’ creator TurtleMe (Brandon Lee). While unfinished, it reveals advanced cuts of protagonist King Grey first battling a soldier before an opposing force rains down bombs from the sky. It concludes with King Grey solemnly reflecting, “That’s right. I… was a king.” You can check it out below.

Makoto Furukawa will voice King Grey, while Natsumi Fujiwara will voice Arthur Leywin, who King Grey reincarnated into as he tries to lead a new life. Kana Ichinose joined the cast as Tessia, and Chiaki Omigawa will voice Jasmine. You can check out their cast comments here.
Anime Corner had the opportunity to interview TurtleMe following the series’ announcement. He shared the trials and tribulations of getting his series picked up by Tapas into a web novel, then a web comic, and now an anime adaptation set to stream on Crunchyroll this year. He also dives deep into the characters and motivations of King Grey and Arthur.
Tapas describes The Beginning After The End:
King Grey has unrivaled strength, wealth, and prestige in a world governed by martial ability. However, solitude lingers closely behind those with great power. Beneath the glamorous exterior of a powerful king lurks the shell of man, devoid of purpose and will.
Reincarnated into a new world filled with magic and monsters, the king has a second chance to relive his life. Correcting the mistakes of his past will not be his only challenge, however. Underneath the peace and prosperity of the new world is an undercurrent threatening to destroy everything he has worked for, questioning his role and reason for being born again.
