ROLL OVER AND DIE: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword anime revealed the first teaser visual and trailer, along with the main voice cast and a 2026 release date.
The anime was announced in April 2025, and you can watch the teaser trailer below.
Ayaka Nanase voices the main character Flum Apricot, who is described as a girl whose stats are all zero due to her rare affinity “Reversal” attribute, yet is chosen by the divine prophecy of the creator god Origin to join the Hero’s Party. Useless in battle, she is despised by a fellow party member, Jean.
Nanase commented:
Q1. What is your impression of this work?
I first read this work when I auditioned for the role, and from the very beginning, I was captivated by Flum’s desperate struggle to survive in such a hopeless situation. I couldn’t stop reading. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind story—something you’d never expect from the title alone. I’ve always loved dark settings, so I instantly became a huge fan!
Q2. What are your thoughts on the character you play, and your enthusiasm for the role?
Flum is a cheerful and energetic girl, just like any normal girl her age. But as she faces cruelty and fate head-on, I can’t help but feel sympathy for everything she goes through. I’m currently doing my best during recording sessions to bring out all of Flum’s different sides—her strength in battle, and the moments where she just gets to be a regular girl. Please look forward to more updates and the upcoming TV anime broadcast!
She is also featured on the first visual for the anime, which aims to capture the tone of the original Japanese title, “Do You Really Think Someone Like You Can Defeat the Demon Lord?”
The anime ROLL OVER AND DIE: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword! is adapting a light novel series written by kiki and illustrated by kinta. The story began as a web novel on the site Shosetsuka ni Naro in January 2018. Later in July that year, Micro Magazine picked it up and began releasing it in print under their GC Novels label.
A manga version by Sunao Minakata has been running online on Micro Magazine’s Comic Ride website since December 2018. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both the light novel and manga in English.
