The documentary film I LOVE LUCCA COMICS & GAMES officially premiered at the 20th Rome Film Festival on October 22. The film shone a spotlight on the Italian pop-culture festival Lucca Comics & Games for the first time on the big screen.
Produced by the company All At Once (production partner of I Wonder Pictures), in collaboration with the festival’s organizing body, Lucca Crea, the film explores the cultural impact of the wide-ranging convention, one of the biggest in Europe, with more than 300,000 visitors each year.
Key figures involved in the film production attended the gala, such as director and screenwriter Manlio Castagna, Lucca Comics & Games director Emanuele Vietina, producer and editorial director of I Wonder Pictures and All At Once Andrea Romeo, rapper Frankie hi-nrg mc, performer Lillo Petrolo, and others.
The heart of a convention
Naturally, the cosplay community was indispensable on the premiere’s red carpet. A parade of more than 40 Italian and international cosplayers—including Leon Chiro, Elizabeth Rage, Nynphahri, Himorta, Gaia Giselle, and Nives Sela—joined creators, associations, and fans showing the world the significance of Lucca Comics & Games.
Following its successful opening night, the documentary will screen in Italian cinemas on November 10, 11, and 12, 2025. For fans abroad, we are excited to announce that Anime Corner will attend the upcoming 59th edition of Lucca Comics & Games next October 29 to November 2. About the film I LOVE LUCCA COMICS & GAMES
With more than 300,000 visitors each year, over 900 special guests and 600 exhibitors, Lucca Comics &
Games is one of the biggest pop culture events in the world. But it is more than that: it is a place that
brings together thousands of people to experience an explosion of joy and creativity, a place that generates happiness. Through the voices of authors, publishers and prestigious guests (including Gabriele Mainetti, Frankie hi-nrg mc, cartoonists Pera Toons, Sio, Fumettibrutti, Yoshitaka Amano and Roberto Recchioni), and interviews with visitors, a portrait of a community and its values emerges: it is a world filled with enthusiasm, hospitality and kindness, which celebrates its freedom of expression, and that of others, on a yearly basis.
