CTW Cayman has announced that its new browser game HIGH SCHOOL OF THE DEAD DAY 0 will officially launch on its G123 platform on April 28. We recently had the chance to interview CTW CEO Ryuichi Sasaki, who talked about G12 and why browser-based gaming is still relevant.
The new game is described as a survival tower defense RPG based on the HIGH SCHOOL OF THE DEAD anime, putting players in the role of protagonist Takashi Komuro as he navigates a world overrun by “Them.” The gameplay will focus on base-building and strategic defense, with players assembling a team of characters to survive waves of enemies.
All character artwork is newly created for the game, featuring both recreations of scenes from the anime and original designs, including alternate outfits such as swimsuits and casual wear. The roster features main characters including Takashi Komuro, Rei Miyamoto, and Saeko Busujima, with additional allies available to recruit.
Pre-registration campaigns are still active, with milestone-based rewards depending on total sign-ups. These include in-game items such as supply box keys and a Saeko Busujima partner skin (Kunoichi variant) at higher tiers.
The title is planned as a free-to-play release with in-game purchases and will support multiple languages, including Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.
HIGH SCHOOL OF THE DEAD is based on the manga by Daisuke Sato (story) and Shoji Sato (art). Synopsis:
Fujimi High School has been turned into a crucible of hell by intruders – “Them”! They attacked, ate and infected people throughout the school. In the school that has become a living hell, Takashi Komuro, his childhood friend Rei Miyamoto, and his best friend Hisashi Igo take refuge. However, Hisashi got bitten by “Them” while protecting Rei, and turns into one of “Them”… The remaining two survivors join up with their classmates: Saya Takagi, Kota Hirano, the kendo club leader Saeko Busujima, and the school doctor Shizuka Marikawa. They are determined to escape the school! Is there any way for them to survive?
