Chinese animated series False Memory (Memory Administration Bureau) has released a new trailer, confirming that the series will begin streaming on Bilibili in August. The donghua will debut with its first three episodes. Flint Sugar and Studio Tumble are in charge of the animation production.
The donghua’s official X account list the series for an August 2 premiere, while the company’s YouTube channel lists August 4. The difference likely means separate domestic and overseas release schedules.
Protagonist Guan Chao is searching for a mysterious energy source known as the “Burning Stone” in hopes of powering the time-travel weapon Time Gun and returning to the past. However, he falls into the Memory Administration Bureau, where he joins memory collectors Fang Tang and Bai Chong as they battle through “bizarre memory layers.”
The official tagline featured in the trailer reads:
“Go create the ending you want.”
False Memory has been in development for several years and first got attention through released concept trailers that circulated widely within China’s animation community.
For viewers unfamiliar with the medium, False Memory is a donghua, the term commonly used for Chinese animated productions. In recent years, donghua has seen growing international recognition through titles such as Link Click, Heaven Official’s Blessing, The King’s Avatar, Lord of the Mysteries and To Be Hero X.
