Isekai Museum Releases Free Online Exhibit

On June 5, 2021, the Isekai museum released its first exhibition being the Overlord anime. Every Saturday, following the Overlord exhibit, will feature other Isekai series up until July 3 this upcoming summer. These other franchises include Re: Zero, KonoSuba, and The Saga of Tanya the Evil anime series. What’s more, every exhibition is accessible online, with the physical exhibit opening on July 17 to September 26 at the Kadokawa Culture Museum.

Following the Overlord anime, KonoSuba will have its leading exhibition revealed on the 12th of June. What’s more, the Re: Zero and The Saga of Tanya the Evil exhibits are set on June 19 and June 26th respectively. Finally, the last exhibition known as “Secret Room” will release on July 3, 2021. The exhibits offer storyboards, key art, and character designs for the shows mentioned above.

What’s more, these exhibits have several photo spots that feature statues of fan-favorite characters such as Ainz from Overlord. Additionally, Isekai Museum will display various tools or outfits from these Isekai characters, such as Tanya’s military uniform. Readers can access the Isekai Museum exhibition through their website without early registration.

Explaining The Isekai Genre

The genre focuses on anime or manga/light novels characters reincarnated into another world after passing away from their previous one. Shows within this genre often rely on this trope to show how an ordinary person can survive in a fantasy or sci-fi world.

Inuyasha and Spirited Away are good examples of the Isekai genre where the main protagonist goes to another world. However, the main protagonist of the Isekai genre doesn’t always reincarnate in the story, as Spirited Away’s Chihiro didn’t die.

However, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime has the protagonist passing away before their journey in the new world. Moreover, the Isekai tends to lean towards having harem elements, as demonstrated in shows like How NOT to Summon a Demon Lord.
