Japanese utaite singer Mafumafu has announced that he will go on hiatus following his live concerts on June 11 and 12. According to the statement, Mafumafu will use the hiatus to improve his health. Singer also stated that he has not been feeling well for the past few years, and hopes to spend more time taking care of himself.
The statement also noted that he will try his best to keep fans posted on social media occasionally, as well as work on other personal music projects. He also intends to keep doing collaborations with music artists.
Mafumafu’s health issues first became known in 2020 when he was found unconscious in his home by several of his staff after they went there for a planned meeting. Oricon reported back then that he suffered from cardiogenic shock or Adams-Stokes syndrome.
The Japanese singer was previously signed with the music label NBCUniversal Japan from 2016 to 2019. He later moved to A-Sketch, where he is still a signee. He has sung several anime theme songs including Sacrifice for the 2019 anime series To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts and One, Two, Three for Pokémon Journeys: The Series alongside After the Rain’s Soraru. He also sang the ending theme for the second season of Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It titled “Love-Evidence” with Chico and the Honeyworks.
He has also ventured into the VTuber scene by supporting the launch of the Merise agency, established by VTubers Shibuya HAL and Shirayuki Raid.
