The information was originally reported in the Japanese magazine Bunshun on Friday; the magazine is known for its tabloid-style and sensational reporting. Later on the same day, the official website of talent agency Intention, which represents the voice actor, announced that the details in the article are true. The announcement also mentioned that the voice actor did not disclose anything related to his private life due to personal reasons prior to the report. The identity of the person Takahiro Sakurai is married to wasn’t made public.

Takahiro Sakurai is affiliated with Intention agency which was founded by voice actor Kenichi Suzumura. Sakurai is known for his roles as Suzaku Kururugi in Code Geass, Giyu Tomioka in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Rohan Kishibe in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable, and Arataka Reigen in Mob Psycho. The voice actor is also well-known for his role as Cloud Strife from the Final Fantasy series. In 2011, Sakurai won the Male Character Voice Award at Famitsu Awards 2010, and in the following year, he won the Overseas Fan’s Award at the 6th Seiyu Awards.
