The official website describes the plot of the episode as:
Shinpei defeats Shide and ends it all. Then, the shadow and the tide, disappear.
On a new July 22, Shinpei wakes up on the ferry. It is his first return to Hitogashima in Wakayama City in two years.
He remembers the meow of a cat that had gone to the sea and never returned and the sound of the ocean waves. Shinpei stands at the dock of his hometown and ponders.
He feels a little strange, but time passes peacefully. The island comes alive with preparations for the summer festival, and Shinpei and Ushio are finally reunited. What will they be able to leave behind after only a too-short summer?
Summer Time Rendering is based on a suspense-mystery manga by Yasuki Tanaka. Shonen Jump+ online magazine serialized it from 2017 to 2021. Studio OLM is animating the anime adaptation, which began airing in April of this year.
The manga is available on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus platform. The plot is described as:
Upon hearing of Ushio’s death, Shinpei returns to his hometown of Wakayama City on Hitogashima and reunites with his childhood friend’s family. The funeral goes smoothly, but under the surface something strange is brewing on the island. What mysteries await him on this secluded summer island?
