Classroom of the Elite's Ayanokoji and Ryuen Dress Up for Halloween on Monthly Comic Alive Cover

Classroom of the Elite‘s Kiyotaka Ayanokoji and Kakeru Ryuen in Halloween costumes will be featured on the cover of Monthly Comic Alive’s December issue, which will be released on Thursday. The cover is meant to celebrate the release of the light novel’s 8th volume of Year 2 which is set for October 25. The magazine has been serialization manga adaptations of the series Year 1 by Yuyu Ichino and Year 2 by Xia Sasane.

MF Bunko J’s advertising assistant Suzu Sakuragaoka revealed the cover illustration on the release day of Classroom of the Elite Year 2 Volume 8 on Twitter, introducing it as “Ayanokoji-kun and Ryuen-kun, who recently had a birthday on October 20 ✨” and describing the cover as “refreshing, Alive’s front cover without pretty girls ☺️” The account made a teaser visual with only black silhouettes of the characters on October 12.

The illustration shows Kiyotaka Ayanokoji dressed as Vampire and Kakeru Ryuen as Werewolf. Behind them fly bats and in front of them, on a pumpkin with a face, stays a black cat.

Shogo Kinugasa is writing the story of Classroom of the Elite light novels with art by Shunsaku Tomose. The series is currently being published by Kadokawa under the light novel brand MF Bunko J. Volume 1 was released in May 2015 and the series concluded Year 1 with Volume 11.5 in September 2019. Year 1 received an anime adaptation and aired from July to September 2017. However, the full story from the light novels was not covered. In February 2022, it was announced that the anime’s 2nd and 3rd seasons will cover the remaining part of the story. Studio Lerche animated Season 2 from July to September 2022, and Season 3’s release is set for sometime in 2023.
