The upcoming KonoSuba Megumin-focused spin-off anime, An Explosion on This Wonderful World released a second trailer on Sunday, December 4. The same day also happens to be Megumin’s brithday. Studio Drive is animating the adaptation, which was announced in May 2022 along with the third season of KonoSuba TV anime. The premiere date is set for April 2023.
At midnight, the official KonoSuba Twitter account celebrated Megumin’s birthday with a cake, while also announcing the trailer:
Along with the trailer, the anime unveiled character visuals for characters including Megumin and Yunyun. Rie Takahashi, Aki Toyosaki, and Maria Naganawa are reprising their roles as Megumin, Yunyun, and Komekko respectively. The other cast members are Kaori Nazuka as Arue, Miyu Tomita as Funifura, Sayumi Suzushiro as Dodonko, Shizuka Ishigami as Nerimaki.

Natsume Akatsuki serialized the original KonoSUba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! series on the Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel service from December 2012 to October 2013. KADOKAWA’s label Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko picked and published the light novel with art by Kurone Mishima. It has a total of 19 volumes including two extra volumes, which compile short stories. It was announced with a new illustration that the series surpassed 10 million circulating copies in November 2021. The light novel inspired a spin-off light novel by the duo about Megumin, which had a total of 5 volumes. Studio Drive is animating both of the new adaptations.
