Eiichiro Oda Has Fun With AI Art Using His Rob Lucci and Luffy Drawings

One Piece manga’s author Eiichiro Oda seems to have enjoyed how AI transformed his scribble illustrations of Rob Lucci and Monkey D. Luffy. The official YouTube channel of One Piece posted a video on Monday with a title in Japanese: “Oda-san sent us something, and we wondered what it’d be, and…! Lucci…! He turned into a surprising form by super technologies?!

The video starts off with a sheet of white paper, followed by a hand with a pencil that starts to scribble the mentioned character’s face with collars and a long hat on the head. After that, a flashy letter “Rob Lucci Drawn by AI” appears, followed by six panels including the drawing being processed on AI Illust Maker. A lot of AI-drawn illustrations were made, and he picked one of them with the text “Assassin Rob Lucci ♡”. The video continues to show the manga’s protagonist Monkey D. Luffy next with a buttle “Pigeon Guy” and enters into a battle of the “Luffy vs Lucci Drawn by AI.” He let the AI redraw his Luffy illustration as well, and the video concludes with the characters’ line “Let’s stop… fighting…!!” followed by a text “Fin – Eiichiro Oda…?”.

Rob Lucci made his appearance as a carpenter of Galley-La Company in the manga’s chapter 323 titled “The City of Water, Water 7.” Tomokazu Seki, known for his roles as Gilgamesh in the Fate franchise and Shinya Kogami in Psycho-Pass, voiced Rob Lucci in the One Piece anime adaptation.
