Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End previews the upcoming episode 21 titled “The World of Magic.” Mariya Ise has also joined the cast as Serie, and she will make her debut in the episode scheduled to premiere on Friday, February 2. The anime’s website describes the story:
Frieren and her party lost the stille from the first round of the first class mage exam to Denken’s party. Kanne and Lawine struggle against Richter, who has an overwhelming magical power compared to them both. Meanwhile, Frieren was thinking of a plan amid the battle with Denken. The sun was setting, and the time limit for the first round of testing was approaching. Who will advance to the second round of the exams?
Keiichiro Saito (Bocchi the Rock!) is directing the series at studio Madhouse (A Place Further Than The Universe) with Tomohiro Suzuki (One Punch Man) as the scriptwriter, Evan Call (Violet Evergarden) as the music composer, and Reiko Nagasawa (takt op. Destiny) as the character designer. The cast includes Atsumi Tanezaki (Anya Forger from Spy x Family) as the titular character Frieren, Kana Ichinose (Suletta Mercury from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury) as Fern, Chiaki Kobayashi (Gabimaru from Hell’s Paradise) as Stark, Azumi Waki (Maika Sakuranomiya from Blend S) as Kanne, and Sayumi Suzushiro (Nijika Ijichi from Bocchi the Rock) as Lawine.

After the party of heroes defeated the Demon King, they restored peace to the land and returned to lives of solitude. Generations pass, and the elven mage Frieren comes face to face with humanity’s mortality. She takes on a new apprentice and promises to fulfill old friends’ dying wishes. Can an elven mind make peace with the nature of life and death? Frieren embarks on her quest to find out.
