The upcoming Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 unveiled a new trailer on Thursday. The second season is set to premiere on January 16, 2026. The trailer features the ending theme song “The Story of Us” by milet.
Tomoya Kitagawa is directing the sequel, replacing Keiichiro Saito at studio MADHOUSE. Tomohiro Suzuki is in charge of the series composition, with Yuri Fujinaka, Keisuke Kojima, and Maru Takase on character designs. Evan Call is composing the music. The main voice cast for the anime includes:
- Atsumi Tanezaki as Frieren
- Kana Ichinose as Fern
- Chiaki Kobayashi as Stark
- Nobuhiko Okamoto as Himmel
- Yoji Ueda as Eisen
- Hiroki Tochi as Heiter

After the party of heroes defeated the Demon King, they restored peace to the land and returned to lives of solitude. Generations pass, and the elven mage Frieren comes face to face with humanity’s mortality. She takes on a new apprentice and promises to fulfill old friends’ dying wishes. Can an elven mind make peace with the nature of life and death? Frieren embarks on her quest to find out.
The anime is based on the manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday since April 2020. It was also previously announced that the manga will go on an indefinite hiatus.
The first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End was runner-up at our 2024 Anime of the Year Awards, narrowly losing out against The Dangers in My Heart Season 2. It also bagged the Best Adaptation, Best Adventure, Best Fantasy, Best Voice Cast, and Best World Building.
