Nyaight of the Living Cat anime revealed a new trailer and main voice cast ahead of its July 2025 release date. Studio OLM (Komi Can’t Communicate) is animating, with Tomohiro Kamitani as the director. Crunchyroll will be streaming the anime.
Main Voice Cast for Nyaight of the Living Cat
- Masaaki Mizunaka as Kunagi: The protagonist, a mysterious amnesiac who fights to resist the cat transformation.
- Reina Ueda as Kaoru: A high school student working at her brother’s cat café.
- Reiji Kawashima as Arata: A college student saved by Kunagi at the brink of turning into a cat; he begins to admire Kunagi like an older brother.
- Yu Serizawa as Tsutsumi: A high school student and Kaoru’s classmate.
Additional cast members were also announced:
- Subaru Kimura as Ren: The eldest son of a legendary family that survived three sleepless nights protecting their base from cats.
- Yoshiki Nakajima as Masaki: The second son of the legendary family.
- Ryota Takeuchi as Gaku: Kaoru’s older brother, who employs the amnesiac Kunagi at his cat café.

Manga Background: The Story of Nyaight of the Living Cat
Night of the Living Cat (Nyaito obu za Ribingu Kyatto), also known as Nyaight of the Living Cat, is a Japanese manga series written by Hawkman and illustrated by Mecha-Roots. It has been serialized in Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Garden magazine since October 2020, with six volumes released as of February 21, 2025. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English. They describe the story:
The horror/comedy is set in a world where a certain virus spread all over the world and turned almost everyone into cats. The main character, Kunagi, has a vast knowledge about cats but doesn’t remember anything about his own past. With the virus spreading through simple cuddles, he has to find the willpower to resist and try to survive as a human.
