ATLUS and SEGA have officially revealed a new trailer and details about Persona 5: The Phantom X, the latest title in the Persona 5 series. Most notably, the companies confirmed that the English version of the game will launch the same time as Japan, on June 26, 2025.
Hosted by freelance announcer Neki Matsuzawa, the program featured members of the development team and voice cast, including:
- Kaede Hondo, voice of Motoha Arai
- Chika Anzai, voice of Yui
- Yohsuke Uda (ATLUS), Chief Producer
- Yusuke Nitta (ATLUS), Development Director and Main Scenario Planner
- Jun Matsunaga (SEGA), Development Producer
- Yuta Sakai (SEGA), Live Ops Director
You can watch the new trailer below.
Global Release and Platform Features
The game will release simultaneously in the West and Japan, a decision developers said was driven by global fan enthusiasm. Yusuke Nitta jokingly said, “If we didn’t do a simultaneous release, there would be riots,” while acknowledging they had initially considered a staggered release.
Yuta Sakai noted that the global launch helps prevent spoilers and allows the community to enjoy the experience together. Pre-registration is now open for iOS, Android, and PC (Steam). The game will also support cross-platform play, enabling players to use a single game ID across devices.
Expanding the School Life
In a new segment, Sakai introduced a brand-new gameplay system centered around club activities, a first for the Persona series. Players can now participate in clubs such as music and soccer, adding more depth to daily life gameplay. This builds on Persona 5‘s social systems.
“Players can enjoy school life in brand-new ways through these activities,” Sakai explained, also noting that activities like part-time jobs, hanging out with friends, and other common features of the series remain intact.
Collaborative Development and Focus on Quality
Yusuke Nitta described the challenges of co-developing the title between ATLUS, SEGA, and Perfect World, but said the process allowed each team to contribute their strengths. The extended development timeline helped ensure the game met the franchise’s expectations and mechanical standards.
Jun Matsunaga emphasized attention to detail, saying that making a live service game was difficult since they had to make an RPG with a story that’s as exciting as a full console Persona game. Still he clarified that fans excited by the trailer would find their expectations met by the full experience.
