CYBERPUNK EDGERUNNERS 2 has officially revealed the first trailer, giving an exciting look at the second season ahead of its Fall 2026 release. Studio TRIGGER is back to animate. We recently spoke with the show’s writer and producer Bartosz Sztybor, who told us why they chose the studio and shared insights into the production.
The new anime is a new 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077, earlier described as “a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge.” It is directed by Kai Ikarashi, who directed Episode 6 of the original anime titled “Girl on Fire.” Ichigo Kanno is the character designer, while screenplay will be handled by Masahiko Otsuka. Bartosz Sztybor is also back as showrunner, story writer, and producer. It was previously confirmed that Netflix will be streaming the new series.
Four of the main characters were revealed in the buildup to today’s announcement. They include:
- Weak Kingsley: Once known as “King,” a veteran edgerunner at the top of his game, Weak now lives in the shadow of his former glory.
- D: A Snake Nation netrunner with sharp technical skills and a sharper hunger for revenge, D hunts the killer who wiped out his clan.
- Roman Carax: A young cinephile searching for real stories. In a city that abandoned cinema for neurodance. Obsessed with documenting the truth, he closely follows the lives of other people.
- Talia Yang: Raised in the corpo towers, but hardened by the trials of Maelström, Talia is fiercely independent, steeped in hyperviolent culture, and obsessed with her gang’s chrome.
The trailer features an original score by Tsuneo Imahori the song “You Can’t Run From Me,” which was written by Maria Kelly and Drew Polovick, performed by Rico Nasty, produced by Drew Polovick, mixed and mastered by Elliot Polokoff, Check out the trailer for CYBERPUNK EDGERUNNERS 2 (Season 2) below.

CD PROJEKT RED (or CDPR) is the company behind the Cyberpunk 2077 video game. Studio TRIGGER also animated the first CYBERPUNK: EDGE RUNNERS anime series, which was released in September 2022 and also had a total of 10 episodes. The franchise launched a prequel manga focused on Rebecca and Pilar in December 2024.
The first anime was voted as the Best New Anime of the year in our yearly awards for that year, as well as the Best Original Anime. Netflix is streaming the show, describing its story:
The series tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in Night City — a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he stays alive by becoming an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.
