KADOKAWA confirmed that SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table 44: CLOUDY BEACH movie will begin streaming worldwide on July 13, 2026. A new trailer introducing the next deadly game and the anime’s expanded cast was also revealed.
The new trailer also shows the first preview of the characters’ voices as protagonist Yuki (CV: Chiyuki Miura) enters her 44th death game. Set on a remote island, the new challenge initially appears to have a straightforward escape objective, but the discovery of a dismembered body quickly throws the players into a deadly mystery where suspicion spreads among the survivors.
Based on the light novel series by Yushi Ukai with illustrations by Nekometaru, SHIBOYUGI follows Yuki, a professional death game player who earns a living by surviving increasingly lethal competitions. The series won the Excellence Award at the 18th MF Bunko J Light Novel Newcomer Awards and ranked No. 1 in the New Works category of Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! 2024.
The new story introduces several veteran competitors alongside Yuki, including Airi (Yume Miyamoto), Essay (Anna Nagase), Koyomi (Yukari Tamura), Hizumi (Konomi Inagaki), Maguma (Aino Shimada), Mitsuba (Riko Akechi), and Mozuku (Hikaru Tono).
Many of the contestants have already survived dozens of previous death games, with Yuki herself now well past the infamous “Wall of Thirty,” a milestone said to dramatically reduce players’ survival rates.
Studio DEEN is in charge of animating the adaptation with Souta Ueno directing and Rintaro Ikeda handling series composition.
The new film will stream worldwide on Netflix, while Crunchyroll will simulcast the series in North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, and CIS territories. Additional regional streaming partners include MUSE Asia, iQIYI, Aniplus, Laftel, Bilibili Thailand, Twitch Taiwan, and several other local platforms throughout Asia.
