Japanese voice actor Kenichi Suzumura announced the end of his four-month-long hiatus and his gradual return to work on June 29. The announcement was posted on the official website of his talent agency, INTENTION.
The agency stated that Kenichi Suzumura will be gradually resuming work while continuing to prioritize his health. It also expressed an apology to fans and those involved for the concern and inconvenience caused during his hiatus, and asked for continued support as he returns to his work activities.
Following the agency’s announcement, Suzumura took to his X account to personally inform his fans and express his gratitude, writing “I’m doing very well now.” His post received messages of support from fellow voice actors, including Yuki Kaji, Ryotaro Okiayu, and Mitsuki Saiga.
Previously, Suzumura announced an indefinite hiatus in February after revealing that he had been diagnosed with a stress-related condition, which is the adjustment disorder. He then temporarily stepped back from his professional activities to focus on rest and recovery.
Kenichi Suzumura is a Japanese voice actor born in Niigata and raised in Osaka. Some of his most recognized roles include Sougo Okita in Gintama, Obanai Iguro in Demon Slayer, Atsushi Murasakibara in Kuroko’s Basketball, and Lavi in D.Gray-man.
Suzumura is the founder of the Japanese seiyuu talent agency INTENTION, which is home to big names such as Yuichi Nakamura, Yuma Uchida, Aya Endo, Nao Toyama, and Suzumura himself, among others. He has been married to fellow seiyuu Maaya Sakamoto since 2011; the couple announced the birth of their first child in 2022.
