A-1 Pictures returned to profitability in the fiscal year ending March 2026, reporting a net profit of 91.649 million yen (~$564,000USD) after recording a net loss of about 178 million yen the previous year.
The figures were disclosed in the studio’s official financial notice published in Japan’s Kanpo (Official Gazette) on June 29.
The Aniplex-owned animation studio produced several major projects during the fiscal year, including Kaguya-sama: Love Is War – The Stairway to Adulthood, Fate/strange Fake, Uta noPrince-sama TABOO NIGHT XXXX, and The Camphorwood Custodian.
The company’s financial notice, dated June 29, 2026, lists total assets of 2.336809 billion yen, total liabilities of 1.569071 billion yen, and net assets of 767.737 million yen as of March 31, 2026. The financial update comes shortly after fellow Aniplex animation studio CloverWorks reported a net loss of 38.5 million yen for the same fiscal year, widening slightly from the previous year’s loss.

It included Atsushi Kaneko, producer for Solo Leveling and known for working on shows like Sword Art Online: Alicization, Shunsuke Sugimoto, producer for Lycoris Recoil, and Toshitaka Morioka, CG Director for Solo Leveling and Lycoris Recoil. They discussed working on these shows as well as some aspects regarding their future.
