Infold Games, the global publisher of the popular Chinese otome game, Love and Deepspace, has announced the cancellation of the launch of the game’s sixth love interest, Valko, and confirmed that no additional love interests will be introduced in future content plans.
The decision was revealed in an open letter addressed to players and published through the game’s official social media channels following the widespread controversy surrounding the announcement of Version 6.0. In the statement, the development team apologized to the community, saying it had spent the past several days closely monitoring player feedback across multiple platforms.
According to the developers, Valko’s introduction had been announced before the team was fully prepared.
“After reflecting on recent events, we recognize that we moved forward with the introduction of Valko before we were truly ready. In doing so, we let down the players who have supported us from the start, and we also fell short of delivering the experience that players anticipating Valko deserved.”
Following what it described as extensive internal discussions, Infold Games said it had decided to cancel both Valko’s launch and any further development of the character. The team also committed to not introducing any additional love interests in the game’s future content plans, stating that future development will instead focus on expanding the stories and long-term companionship experiences of the five existing love interests, Xavier, Rafayel, Zayne, Sylus, and Caleb.
Infold Games concluded its letter by apologizing once again to players and pledging to listen more closely to community feedback while focusing future updates on the game’s existing cast. The announcement comes just days after Valko was officially introduced through a series of promotions, including the reveal trailer Chasing Night and the follow-up character trailer The Tameless Game. Both trailers have since been set to unlisted on the game’s official YouTube channel.
Valko was originally scheduled to debut on July 9 as part of the Version 6.0 update, A Shattered Quiet. Ahead of the planned release, little was revealed about the character’s voice cast, with only the Japanese dub being officially credited to Jun Kasama.
Ironically, the cancellation of the planned launch of Valko sparked another wave of criticism from many players, particularly those who had been looking forward to his debut. Numerous replies to the official announcement expressed disappointment over the decision, with some arguing that the developer should have retained Valko while simply committing to no additional love interests afterward.
Others criticized the team for promoting the character shortly before canceling the release, saying the marketing campaign had encouraged players to prepare resources—or even begin playing the game—in anticipation of Valko’s arrival. The hashtags #GiveUsValko and #BringBackValko also emerged as fans called on the developers to reconsider the decision.
