Aniplex’s upcoming original horse-racing anime ‘Fanfare of Adolescence’ has revealed a new character visual, depicting Aki Kyouriki.
Kyouriki is a 15-year old boy from the city of Gifu whose father is a local horse racing jockey, which is why he also aspires to become one of Japan’s top horse jockeys. This is why he decides to join the academy.
Youjiro Itokawa is voicing Kyouriki. Itokawa previously starred in various live-action adaptations of anime such as Shizuka no Umi no Paraiso (Urashima Kotetsu) and Fugou Keiji: Balance: Unlimited The STAGE (Kambe Daisuke). Speaking about his new role, he commented, “I have been looking forward to making the announcement. I will face the work with sincerity and do my best to try expressions that nobody but I could do. I’d appreciate your support.”
About ‘Fanfare of Adolescence’
The upcoming anime, set to air in 2022, is animated by studio Lay-duce, under the direction of Makoto Kato. Hiroyuki Sawano is composing the music score for this project. The franchise had previously announced three new character visuals for the series, namely Yu Arimura (voiced by Shogo Yano), Shun Kazanami (Shimba Tsuchiya), and Amane Grace (Natsuki Hanae).

The synopsis of the anime goes as follows:
Set in a horse racing academy where three 15-year-old boys train to become jockeys. The three-year program is extremely tough, and applicants must pass not only an academic but also a physical and fitness test. Yū Arimura is a former popular idol who, after watching horse racing for the first time, gets infatuated with it and wants to join the academy.

Shun Kanami grew up on an island and only heard about horse races through radio broadcasts. Meanwhile, Amane came from a wealthy English family, and his father was a jockey. He previously studied at several horse racing institutes throughout the world.
