Nyanners, one of the key VTuber figures of the US-based VTuber agency VShojo, has announced that she is leaving the agency to go independent. This comes days after talents Silvervale and Veibae have also parted ways with the agency to go solo.
In a statement posted by VShojo, Nyanners had decided to not renew her contract with the agency, and that they respect her wish to become an independent talent. Much like its messaging during the previous talent departures, Nyanners gets to keep all of her existing IP including her model.
In a separate statement posted by Nyanners on her official Twitter account, she stated that her leaving the agency doesn’t reflect any relationships she had with VShojo’s existing members. Rather, she already had thought of this for the longest time. “I’m deeply appreciative of all the opportunities that being a member of VShojo has presented over the past two years and wish everyone, staff and talent alike, all the best,” she said.
Nyanners debuted first as an indie VTuber on June 2020 before joining VShojo on November 24, 2020. As of this writing, she has over 1,000,000 followers on Twitch and over 500,000 followers on Twitter. With her departure from the group, VShojo’s remaining talents include Ironmouse, Froot, Zentreya, Projekt Melody, Hime Hajime, Haruka Karibu, Kson, and Amemiya Nazuna.
VShojo was founded by chief executive officer Justin “GunRun” Ignacio and chief technology officer Philip “MowtenDoo” Fortunat. In March 2022, the agency raised US$11m in funding aimed at strengthening the company’s presence worldwide. The funding includes participation in major gaming and anime culture conventions, as well as upcoming talent recruitments to expand content production.
