The official Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End popularity poll ended with Aura the Guillotine ranking 2nd, which shocked even her Japanese voice actress Ayana Taketatsu. She wrote on X: Aura-sama is in second place…!? Congratulations! 🎊🎉 I’m very surprised. Did everyone get Auserlese-ed? She refers to Aura’s unique Spell of Obedience: Auserlese where whoever has the higher mana can control the other person’s body.
It makes sense that she is shocked, considering that the character only appeared in about 3 episodes in the first part of the anime, and that she was defeated by Frieren in a way that made it impossible for a comeback. Still, fans have been appreciating Aura with memes and fanarts all along, and it’s not limited to just the anime fans. As far as the popularity poll goes, Himmel was the one character who was voted higher than Aura.
