22 – Kenji Tomochika
Taking the other side of the grooming narrative arc is Tomochika, the Social Link the game establishes for you first in order to explain how the Links work. These first Social Links are usually pretty milquetoast and function as reliably simple narratives with clear optimal answers for the protagonist to give during dialogue exchanges. Tomochika shatters that standard…in weird ways.
His entire arc involves him supposedly dating, getting dumped by, then getting over a teacher at your school. When I first progressed in this link, I actually felt somewhat confused; from his perspective he is dating a teacher, but I generally interpret his Link as him erroneously assuming he was dating a teacher when she was just being nice to him. He’s not the worst, but I would rather spend time with the others above him on the list. He gets points for at least having a character arc with some resolution.
