The Japanese music group TUYU has announced that they will delete all music written by Pusu (Maya Yano) on December 31, 2024, following the lead guitarist and composer’s arrest for attempted murder from earlier this year. The group was disbanded in June, shortly after the incident which occurred on May 31. Pusu was released on August 30 without indictment and deemed not subject to prosecution.
Their full statement thanks everyone for the criticism and feedback, adding that the decision was made in consultation with all the involved parties.

Thank you very much for all your support up until now.
After sincerely accepting the honest criticisms and feedback from everyone, we have decided to remove all songs under TUYU (lyrics and compositions by Pusu).
This decision was made in consultation with the involved parties.
We deeply regret and apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment caused by this decision, and we humbly ask for your understanding.

Pusu stabbed his then-teenage girlfriend in the chest, and he had planned to commit suicide afterwards before coming to his senses and calling the ambulance. The artist previously released a statement in October, where he apologized for the caused inconvenience and explained his perspective.
He also explained that he was hospitalized in a designated mental hospital for two months following the arrest and detention, which was why it took a while for him to release a statement. He said that his mental health was worsened by his chronic stress and fatigue, which were diagnosed a mental stress disorder.
Pusu further explained that he had believed he was being attacked by his girlfriend and that he was acting in ‘necessary self-defense.’ The medical examinations confirmed abnormalities in his brain and mental condition, with ADHD being officially recognized. He wasn’t prosecuted because the medical evaluation deemed his mental state was due to “temporary insanity,” and both the prosecutor and the hospital’s director of psychiatry decided that there was no basis for prosecution. His girlfriend also testified and confirmed the circumstances, and she continued to live with him.
His statement also reminded fans that he held the full rights to the band’s works as the creator of TUYU, which made it difficult for the other members to make decisions about the band’s activities.
He concluded the statement by apologizing to everyone affected by the incident, saying that he will spend the rest of his life indulging in his hobbies and continuing his musical activities.
Prior to the incident, Pusu had caused controversy when he canceled TUYU’s contract with the record label Pony Canyon without consulting the other members of the band in 2023. He then wrote about how he was able to earn a lot of money and led a self-indulgent lifestyle, which led to him neglecting composing songs, the other members, and their fans. TUYU was founded in 2019 and consisted of Pusu (guitarist and composer), Rei (vocalist), miro (keyboardist), Omutatsu (illustrator) and AzyuN (animator). Omutatsu and AzyuN left in January 2022, while the group was disbanded in June 2024. Their anime songs include “It Might Be Painful, but I Still Love It,” the ending song of Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown Arc (Season 2), which aired in early 2023.
