Maaya Sakamoto is expecting her first child in 2022. The voice actress and singer made the announcement on her agency’s official website on December 27, 2021. Her husband Kenichi Suzumura shared the news on his agency’s page, stating that he will be a father. The couple married on August 8, 2011.

The 41-year-old voice actress updated the website on the 27th with an article titled “At the End of the 2021”. She starts off by thanking the fans for their support this year, which marks the 25th anniversary of her career as a singer.
She continues by mentioning a personal affair, that is the fact that she is now pregnant and expected to give birth next year, 2022. Sakamoto refers to the big life event as something “we as a couple have been longing for”. Along with the announcement, she also explained why she had to cancel her jobs these past few months all of a sudden: she followed her doctor’s orders. At present, she is getting back to her work little by little as her state has been stable recently.
To conclude the blog, she sends a happy new year message “Then, I wish you a happy new year. I hope 2022 will be a year filled with a good mood!”
