Naruto Card Game Reveals First Gameplay Details, Card Designs Ahead of Summer 2027 Launch

Bandai has shared the first gameplay details for the upcoming NARUTO CARD GAME, giving fans an early look at its rules, card types, art, and roadmap leading to its worldwide launch in Summer 2027.

The announcement comes ahead of the game’s public debut at Gen Con 2026, where attendees will be able to try it for the first time. The game was first announced in June.

The TCG spans the entire NARUTO franchise, featuring characters and stories from NARUTO, NARUTO: Shippuden, and BORUTO:NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS. Each player builds a deck around a Leader Card, using a deck of 51 cards, five Chakra cards, and one Summon card, with the objective of reducing the opposing Leader’s Life to zero.

Bandai also outlined the game’s five card types:

• Leader Cards determine a deck’s color and overall strategy.
• Character Cards serve as the primary attackers and can use Jutsu by spending Chakra.
• EX Character Cards are powerful units that can be played after meeting specific conditions.
• Chakra Cards function as the game’s resource system for activating Jutsu and support effects.
• Summon Cards are required to bring Character cards into battle.

The first card reveals showcase a mix of original illustrations and artwork adapted from both the anime and manga. Early examples include Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Jiraiya, Itachi Uchiha, Orochimaru, and Tsunade, with some cards recreating memorable scenes while others feature original manga artwork.

Following its Gen Con debut, the game will make appearances at several major events before launch, including New York Comic Con, PAX Australia, Spiel Essen, Paris Games Week, Lucca Comics & Games, and Bandai Card Games Fest. Additional information is planned for December 2026, followed by in-store tutorial sessions beginning in January 2027 ahead of the global release next summer.

Bandai also confirmed plans for an organized competitive scene after launch, ranging from local store events to larger tournaments culminating in a World Championship.

The NARUTO CARD GAME will make its first public appearance during Gen Con 2026 in Indianapolis from July 30 through August 2, where attendees can participate in free tutorial sessions and receive promotional gifts at the Bandai Card Games booth.
